Since you already have the 4-way trailer connector on your 2008 Ford F-150 you may only need an adapter, part # 37185. This converts the existing 4-way to a 4- and 7-way connector in one. It plugs into your 4-way and then the other wires need to be connected into the truck's wiring.
Some models of the F-150 already have the wiring for the trailer brake output circuit and the 12 volt power lead ran from under the hood to the end of the driver's side frame rail. If you can find these wires you can use those to make the connections but they're often hard to find even if your truck does have them. We find it easier to use our # ETBC7 kit which includes an adapter just like the # 37185 along with additional wire and circuit breakers to make all the connections yourself.
The black wire on the adapter runs to your truck's battery through an included circuit breaker, the purple wire is connected to your truck's reverse light circuit, the blue wire goes to the brake output wire coming from the brake controller, and the white wire is grounded to the truck's frame. I've linked an install video on a 2013 F-150 for you. It's a universal part so the install is similar.
If you also need a brake controller I recommend the Prodigy P3, part # 90195. It's one of the most reliable controllers we carry.
