Do B&W 5th Wheel Base Rails Work With B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch on 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500

Question:

Will it work with a B&W Companion hitch. If not what will with a 2022 Chevy 2500. Thanks

The B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch does not mount in standard 5th wheel rails, so it will not work with the B&W base rails that fit your 2022 Chevy Silverado 2500, which is the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails # BWRVK2505.

Instead, what you will need is the specific mounting kit for the Companion, which for your '22 Silverado 2500 is the following part number:

- Custom Underbed Installation Kit for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # BWGNRK1020-5W

The # BWGNRK1020-5W will fit either the standard short bed or long bed, and doubles as a gooseneck hitch should you also have the need or want to pull a gooseneck trailer. The Companion will mount directly in the hole where the gooseneck ball would normally go, which is different than most 5th wheel hitches that mount on standard base rails. Then for the Companion, the right one will depend on if your Chevy is a standard short bed or long bed; you'll need the sliding hitch for a short bed or fixed hitch for a long bed:

- Short Bed: B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3400-5W

- Long Bed: B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3500-5W

You made a really nice choice going with B&W as this gives your Silverado the best possible towing set up; the Companion is designed to ensure you have the best possible ride when towing due to its massive 1 inch jaws. These ensure the hitch has a constant vice-like grip around the king pin, giving you the smoothest, quietest ride you can get when towing a 5th wheel trailer.

The only other thing you will need if you don't have one is a 5th wheel wiring harness, the Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # HM54FR.
