Recommended Trailer Hitch and Wiring for Towing a Trailer with a 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid
Question:
Hi! Can you help me find a vehicle wiring harness for a 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-in, so that I can get it set up for towing a light trailer? I can see trailer hitches that will fit, but cant find a wiring harness...

Thanks for reaching out!
The wiring I recommend for your 2013 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118505 which tees in behind your tail lights and then pulls power directly from your battery with the included power wire. This means that your regular vehicle lighting will be really well protected.
If you don't already have a trailer hitch then we have 2 options that I recommend looking at; the Draw-Tite # 24967 and the EcoHitch # 306-X7178. These have hidden crosstubes which means you won't be reducing your ground clearance as much as you with with a hitch that doesn't hide the crosstube.
While the Draw-Tite hitch is more cost-effective I actually recommend going with the EcoHitch because it has a 2" receiver so you have an easier time finding accessories that are compatible. The Draw-Tite hitch is a Class I receiver so you will be limited on the products you can use even if they are simple applications like a bike rack or cargo carrier.
To complete your towing setup you also need a ball mount. Depending on which hitch you choose and your trailer specs you'll need different ball mounts. I've attached a link to our selection of ball mounts you can filter through as well as a helpful article that shows how to choose the correct one.
I'm also attaching some install videos that you can reference.
