Parts Needed To Flat-Tow 2004 Jeep TJ with Aftermarket Bumper

Question:

Hello I have a 2004 Jeep TJ Rubicon. It has a Rockhard Legendary bumper full length on the front with a 12k Warn winch mounted, single hoop. What do I need to flat tow using Roadmaster tow bar behind a Winnebago gasser.

Expert Reply:

If your aftermarket front bumper has d-rings and they can be used for flat-towing then you might be able to attach a tow bar such as the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar part # RM-522 using an adapter like the Adapter for Jeep D-Ring Bumper Mounts to Roadmaster Motor Home Mount Tow Bars part # RM-035 for 3/4" thick d-rings or part # RM-035-1 for 1" thick d-rings. If it doesn't have d-rings, they can't be used for flat-towing, or they aren't the correct size you'll have to go with a standard base plate like the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit part # RM-521424-5 just keep in mind these aren't really designed for aftermarket bumpers. I have attached the rest of the parts you'll need to complete your setup below.

RoadMaster 76" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables part # RM-645-76
Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-152-1676-7
Blue Ox Patriot Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System part # BLU37TR
