How To Carry E-Bikes On Back Bumper of Travel Trailer without Hitch
Question:
Hi - Im looking at purchasing a travel trailer however it does not have a hitch on the back bumper - and I need one so I can attach a heavy duty bike rack for my two e-bikes. I was looking at this rack: Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2 Hitches - Frame Mount. What are my options for adding a hitch to the back bumper - on the actual swagman website it looks like there are some u-bolts that you can attach a hitch to the back bumper - thoughts?

The Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes part # S94FR is a great option for carrying e-bikes on the back of a travel trailer. It will require a 2" trailer hitch for mounting, I am not aware of any other way to mount this rack directly to the bumper. Therefore, you will also need a trailer hitch to go along with the rack. There are a few options for this, the bumper mount style like the Curt RV Bumper Hitch part # C19101 or the frame mount style like the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs part # 13703. You might be able to get away with the bumper mount style but you'd need to reach out to the trailer manufacturer to see how much the bumper can hold. A better option for this would be to just use the frame mount style as this will provide more support for your heavy e-bikes. If you wanted to use a cargo basket and possibly carry a generator down the line you could do that as well with the frame mount style.
