Recommended Way to Improve Ride of Travel Trailer With 2,000 lb Axle

Question:

My 2003 Aliner Scout has a 2000 Lb axle and OEM leaf springs were 1,000 Lbs 21 inch eye-to-eye approx. Despite a maximum loaded weight I flattened two sets of springs in field use. So I upgraded to 1,290 Lbs leaf springs, same eye spacing. Now the tongue is bent upwards a bit, so I think that I really need to smooth out the ride mitigate the impact of bumps and dips by using longer i.e., softer springs of the 1,300 Lb +/- rating. , say 25 inch eye-to-eye. Do you see any problems with this idea?

There are options made specifically to address trailer suspension and smooth out the ride, though I can't see a longer, higher-rated leaf spring being the answer. I just can't see this working out as a solution, so I think the best option is a Timbren system that fits below the frame:

- Timbren Trailer Suspension Enhancement System Light-Duty Trailers # TTRA1702

The Timbren # TTRA1702 sits above the axle (or leaf spring if they are above the axle) and takes the brunt of the weight to smooth out the ride, as well as increase how stable your ride is by supporting the weight of the trailer during turns as it minimizes body roll.
