Troubleshooting Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Movement with Curt Stabilizer Strap Installed
Question:
I still have side to side motion even with the strap. I am using the strap on the frame of the rack at the cross bar. Is this the best spot? Rack obviously not on car in photo. Acura RDX

You really shouldn't be seeing any wiggle movement from the Saris SuperClamp EX Bike Rack # SA4025F when the anti-rattle bolt is installed properly. The bikes may look like they are moving some during travel because of the connections between the shank, head, and main frame, but it should be a pretty solid setup. And if you're using a stabilizing strap # 18050 that should only make everything that much more stable.
When you install the anti-rattle bolt be sure to move the rack around some until the bolt and the rack and secured. If you jump to the 2:20 minute mark of the linked review video you'll see us installing that bolt and then we actually move the vehicle when checking the tightness. I'm also linking the test course video so you can compare your movement with the movement that we experienced after this installation.
