Difficulty Threading Bolts with Curt Hitch part # 11325 on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata

Question:

I purchased a Curt hitch for my 2006 Hyundai Sonata. I was pleased with the hitch and installation, except, the two bolts would not go into the front end holes on the frame. The back bolts went in fine, but I had trouble starting one of the front bolts and the other would only screw in a few threads. I dont know if things are just rusted or if maybe the holes are different size, fine versus course threads, etc., on this model? Thank You

I looked at the instructions and all the bolts are the same for Curt hitch part # 11325. If you had mismatched bolts, the others would not have gone in right either.

I spoke with one of our installers who has put one of these on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Sometimes weldnuts need to be cleaned, it can be spatter from when the frame was welded together or it could be paint or corrosion. Clean threads out well, you can use a wire brush and some brake cleaner. Make sure you start the bolts so they are not cross threading the nuts.

I have added a link to a video install on a 2006 Sonata so you can follow along. We also have a video on cleaning weld nuts before a hitch installation that I have linked to.
