I was very happy with this purchase easy install came with everything to install the hitch. If I ever need another hitch, I will be purchasing it here.

Fit my 2007 Hyundai Sonata. I am very happy with this hitch receiver. Works exactly as advertised and is holding up well after a year of normal use. I would highly recommend this product. Just a reminder to consumers, read your vehicle's manual to make sure of the towing capacity and that you are purchasing the correct receiver. Good luck!

I love it. It fits very well and is exactly what I needed. I love how etrailer knows what fits your car and that they have install videos too!

2008 Hyundai Sonata

2008 Sonata install took 3 hours. Take your time, remove the muffler strap from the frame and a couple bolts from the heat shield. On the drivers side, remove the mud protector. Carefully trim the mud protector and reinstall around the hitch when finished. The 10mm tap and dye set had to be used to clean out my 4 frame 10mm holes. Air compressor, penetrating oil and 10mm tap; 2 hours! For the center? Put the bolt all the way thru the metal piece, angle into car ring, tap with hammer. The hitch is wonderful, 100% perfect. Buy the tail light harness, 100% perfect also.

Nice hitch, works perfectly. Send me some 50 off coupons for your products I love them.

Good product with medium difficulty to install due only to minimal access near the muffler.

2009 Hyundai Sonata

Excellent quality. It the hardware for the middle where hitch mounts to the tow hook was too short so I went to a hardware store and bought a longer grade 8 carriage bolt. My car was an 09 sonata and the threads for a hitch were there. Make sure you chase the threads first!
I opted for this Curt Hit h because it had two more mounting hole on the sides unlike the DrawTite brand. I will not be using this to tow just haul bicycles in a hitch mounted carrier. More Bolts the better!, I spend way too much on bicycles!

No paint has flaked off! I’ve noticed that the car feels a bit stiffer since the Receiver ties into both side of the chassis of the car. This feels great especially since my car has 160k miles. Still hauling around bicycles with no problems!

2010 Hyundai Sonata

I chose this Curt model because I liked that it had five fastening points compared to three with competitors models. Installation was frustrating to say the least. Getting all the holes lined up is a real struggle. If you are putting this on a Sonata with single exhaust, it is necessary to notch out the bottom of the bumper cover to clear the hitch bracket on the left side. Also, the instructions show how to notch out the filler panel that the video says to discard. I don't think the piece is important to anything, but may as well put it back on if you can. Only took a couple of minutes to notch it.

I couldnt be happier! Its been a great hitch for my bike carrier and for my small trailer.

by:

It was easy to install. I'm a skinny guy so I used a jack to hold it in place while I secured it. Holes lined right up, and I've been using it for about a year without any complaints.

Great! Solid piece of equipment.

I watched the install video for the hitch and wiring harness, so when I started I know exactly what I was doing. Fit pretty much as explained after a little adjustment to the tow loop (guess it got smacked a little when car was taken of hauler) and had to use a floor jack to get last side of hitch up to frame rail and the attaching points. All in all it took about an hour to install and another 15 minutes for the wiring harnessl hook-ups. I should have ordered the cap to cover the 1 1/4" opening though.

2008 Hyundai Sonata

The trailer is of very good quality and workmanship. All the hardware needed is included and the instructions are very well laid out. My Hyundai Sonata is different from most, of course, dual exhaust, heat shields and bumper covers that had to be moved or removed to gain access. The only real hassle was my cars real loop where it was attached to the trunk bottom was warped a little that took some "Macgyver-ing" to overcome. I used it yesterday to pick up my trailer and all the other information aided in getting the hitch and trailer connected with no issue.

by:

The product was delivered as described. The powder coat finish was excellent. Fit left some to be desired. Instead of the 30-40 minutes installation time advertised it took me 90 minutes to install. The weldment was not square and required a floor jack to get into place in order to install all of the bolts. Overall the function will meet my needs. Mainly it will be used for a bike rack and light towing.

2010 Hyundai Sonata

I spayed all the nuts and bolts with WD40 and went to watch the step by step instruction video. Very good instructions. So, just as I hoped for, all nuts came off with ease. Dropped the double exhaust, took off the heat shields. The trailer hitch fell right into place. All holes lined up perfectly. Heat shield and exhaust went back on after that. Didn't even rip off a knuckle. The main thing for me was watch the video, It saved me. (Time 2.5 hours to install.)
Thanks ETRAILER !!!

2009 Hyundai Sonata

I spent way too long trying to make this hitch fit my 2009 Hyundai Sonata. When I first lifted the hitch into place, the space between the mounting brackets and the weld-nuts on the frame rail was about 1/2" - 1". I tried using the supplied bolts but could not get them threaded because they were too short to make the gap. I went to the hardware store and got longer bolts. That helped, but I still had to first thread the passenger side and then use a jack to tweak the driver side into position. I should've paid the extra few bucks for the Hidden Hitch. The design looks a lot better and only uses a single bolt on the bracket so you do not need to move the muffler.

I recommend providing a longer 3/8"-16x1 3/4" carriage bolt for this installation. The only way I was able to install the .250 spacer through the tow loop to the trailer hitch was to purchase a 2 1/2" carriage bolt at the local hardware store which allowed greater flexability to install the hex bolts into the frame rail. After hitch installation, I cut off any additional bolt length after the hitch was installed. I would rate this installation easy to moderate.

2006 Hyundai Sonata

Worth the extra $22Installed on my '06 Sonata (2.4L I4) with single exhaust.
Needed to remove 2 exhaust hangers, drop muffler and remove the heat shield to install two bolts on passenger side. On driver side, the plastic cover was removed and required minor trimming (as detailed in the instructions)
Hitch required some 'springing' to get the bolts in, but basically everything lined up well. No hitch pin or clip was included, although the description claims it is.
I believe this hitch is superior to the H.H. and D.T. because it utilizes all fours holes in the frame for mounting, vs. just two holes for the others.

by:

Hitch went on exactly like the video on the site showed. FIt perfectly and worked as expected. Used it with a 1.25-2" adapter to hook my bike rack and MTB up. No issues driving with it either. Very satisfied.

I have used this hitch and wiring harness extensively over the past year. Works great, great value.

2007 Hyundai Sonata

...I installed this hitch on a 2007 Sonota (4 cyl.) today. Had to use a jack to 'force' the second side high enough so the last two holes would align. The tow hook seemed to keep it too low from aligning easily. Also had to lower the exhuast (three bolts) and remove the heat shield (four nuts) above it to get enough room to torque the two bolts on that side. Wiring was fairly simple. The photo in the instuctions for trimming the factory underbody panel was helpful and accurate. Looking forward to using it now.

Hyundai Sonata

The idea of it being made in America in Wisconsin is one of the reasons that I purchased this product. I purchased it for my Hyundai Sonata to use with my new saris bike rack. So far everything has worked out well.

by:

Nice quality hitch.I bought this hitch over the two cheaper ones as in general you get what you pay for. This is the case with Curt Hitches. It installed easily. Everything lined up excellent, all bolts fit and were supplied as was the draw bar. Took about 45 minutes to install due to plastic piece on the car.

by:
2007 Hyundai Sonata

excellent productNo lies this was an easy install on my 07 sonata. Have duel exhaust and took about 45 min. I did exactly as the video showed and I am sold on this hitch and the ease of installation. Awsome

by:

Hitch was everything I expected. It fit the car very well. Well built. Installation is a little tricky if you dont have a lift to put it on.

by:

The product itself is of excellent quality, far better then I expected.
The gauge steel is superior then most other products I have seen and it fit perfectly on the car. The only negative I found was if you do not have access to a lift it would be almost impossible to install this in a timely manner.

  • Can I Use A Hitch Expander With My 2009 Hyundai Sonata 1 1/4 Hitch Receiver
Yes, you will be able to use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4", part # C11325 with your 2009 Hyundai Sonata. This hitch receiver has a maximum tongue weight of 200lbs. Now when you introduce a hitch adapter in to the system you will reduce the maximum tongue weight by 50%, reducing it to 100lbs. This means that the weight of bike you can carry on this rack will be approximately 67lbs. The Haul Master hitch adapter has a maximum tongue weight of 350 lbs, but...

  • Correct Trailer Hitch Fit for a 2006 Hyundai Sonata
The only available trailer options for a 2006 Hyundai Sonata are class I, 1-1/4". The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11325 is a great assembled in USA option and what I recommend. If you need to have the 2" opening, you can use the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # HTAD but keep in mind it will reduce your capacity. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13152 won't fit as it's for a Kia Sorento.

  • Recommendations for Bike Wing Carrier and 2009 Hyundai Sonata Trailer Hitch
For your 2009 Hyundai Sonata, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11325 is 5-1/2 inch recessed to the hitch pin hole from the outer bumper as you stated. This hitch does require the Curt Trailer Hitch Support Strap - Bike Rack Strap with Cambuckle # 18050 to preserve the warranty on the hitch. Because clearance is a concern, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24757 which does not require the strap and also is only 5 inches recessed to the center of the hitch pin hole to give you an additional...

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver Availability For a 2008 Hyundai Sonata Towing a U-Haul Trailer
Currently the only receivers available for your 2008 Hyundai Sonata are class I like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C11325. This is mostly due to your Sonata having a maximum towing capability of 200lbs tongue weight and 2,000lbs or total trailer weight. Be sure to check your owners manual for your maximum towing capacity. Curt recommends using the Ball Mount # C45521 in the rise position. You will be able to use either a 1-7/8" Ball # C40001 or 2" Ball # C40018 with the U-Haul trailer....

  • Using 2 Inch Accessory With 1-1/4 Inch Hitch Receiver
You can only put a 1-1/4 inch hitch # C11325 on your 2008 Hyundai Sonata, but we can use something like this trailer hitch adapter # e93YR to convert your 1-1/4 hitch to a 2 inch hitch. With this adapter you will cut your weight capacity of the hitch in half since it's farther away from the original hitch tube. Make sure you do not exceed 100lbs on your rack.

  • Parts to Transport Mobility Scooter With a 2006 Hyundai Sonata
It looks like the only hitches available for your 2006 Hyundai Sonata have a Class I rating so you're going to need to use a trailer to transport the scooter as opposed to a hitch-mounted lift. This is due to the 200 lb tongue weight rating of the hitch itself which, to my understanding, the scooter would already be pushing the limits for. If you're interested in going this route then I recommend using the following parts: Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - # C11325 Curt T-Connector Wiring...

  • 1-1/4 to 2 Hitch Adapter for 2009 Hyundai Sonata
The only 1-1/4" to 2" hitch adapter that is available to use with the Class I Curt # C11325 trailer hitch on your 2009 Hyundai Sonata is the Brophy # HTAD. Please keep in mind this will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent, so the combined capacity of your wheelchair carrier and wheelchair would not be able to exceed 100 lbs. If you want to keep the 200 lb capacity of your hitch you need a new cargo carrier that is Class I compatible such as the Curt # C18110....

I looked at the instructions and all the bolts are the same for Curt hitch part # 11325. If you had mismatched bolts, the others would not have gone in right either. I spoke with one of our installers who has put one of these on a 2006 Hyundai Sonata. Sometimes weldnuts need to be cleaned, it can be spatter from when the frame was welded together or it could be paint or corrosion. Clean threads out well, you can use a wire brush and some brake cleaner. Make sure you start the bolts so...
