Parts Needed For Installing an Electric Trailer Brake Controller On an International ProStar
Question:
I have an International ProStar that we need to put a brake controller in to pull a trailer with electric brakes. Can you lend me some assistance on what wiring harness we would need for it or does it come with a generic harness?

I recommend using the Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller # HA100400C as your International ProStar will use air brakes. This will allow you to be able to proportionally control the electric brakes on your trailer. You will tie into your air brakes with Air Line # RM450700 sold per foot and then you will wire the controller to a 12 volt battery positive and negative. Then you only need to run a Brake Wire # 10-1-1 also per foot to the 7-Way Trailer Connector # HM47210. You will need to wire a separate connector as the wiring for a 7-way commercial is different from the traditional 7-ways used with electric brake trailers(see image below). You will also need the Hopkins Tail Light Converter # HM48847 as since the trailer will have combined the turn signal and brake light wires.
