Recommended Parts For Flat Towing A 2017 Ford Fiesta With Automatic Transmission
Question:
We are looking at buying a 2017 Ford Fiesta with an automatic transmission to flat tow behind our 2021 Tiffin Wayfarer. Per the Fiesta’s owner’s manual, we will be able to flat tow this car with it’s auto transmission. Could you please confirm the above and then let me know all of the equipment that you would recommend to get the car set up to be flat towed. I would like to use the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain tow bar if that will work and a portable proportional braking system. I’ve heard good things about the Brake Buddy 3…is this a good system that will work? I may be buying the Fiesta later today so a quick response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Your 2017 Ford Fiesta can definitely be flat towed with the automatic transmission. There are two options still for base plates depending on how your Fiesta is equipped, but I have both options listed below.
Non ST Model Without EcoBoost:
Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524438-5
Non ST Model With EcoBoost or ST Model:
Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524441-5
From here, the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522 is a great choice and the Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645 will complete the connections to the base plate.
Next you will need some wiring components, starting with the Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit # RM-152-1676-7. This includes all the diodes and everything needed to get the lights and a braking system working, but you will also need the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 to make sure you battery isn't drained while towing.
As to the Brake Buddy Select 3 # HM39524, you can't do much better with a portable unit. This is easy to use and set up and will serve you very well. However, since this will connect directly to the vehicle's battery, I do recommend adding the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25, and Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75 if your RV's 7-Way doesn't have 12 volts of power at the 1 o'clock position. This will really make sure your battery stays good and charged.
