Bike Rack & Trailer Hitch For Travel Trailer With 4 Inch Square Bumper

Question:

I am looking for the a number of items to accomplish mounting 2 ebikes 33 lbs each to our travel trailer that has a spare tire. One bike is a step-thru. - platform bike rack possibly Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack - hitch receiver - hitch extender I know this will reduce tongue weight by half, will measure for exact length needed - hitch support system for 4 inch bumper safety struts - adapter for step-thru bike if needed I know we are asking a lot but am hopeful that with the right parts, we can make this work. I am looking for your expertise to come up with a list of items for this project. Thank you. Thank you for your help.

We have exactly what you need for a bike rack as well as a hitch, and since you have a 4" square bumper, you can use a bumper-mounted hitch. This means you don't have to use a hitch extender, and can put the bumper-mounted hitch along the side of the spare tire, forgoing any type of clearance issues.

For the bike rack, since your bikes are only 33 lbs, the 70 lb per-bike capacity of the E-Spec # S94FR isn't needed, and instead I recommend a different option from Swagman that is also rated for use on travel trailers. Here is what you'll need, including the adapter bar for your step-thru bike.

- Swagman Dispatch Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # S44FR

- etrailer RV Bumper 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # e38HR

- Bike Frame Adapter Bar # 64005

The Dispatch has a 45 lb per-bike capacity which is enough for your 33 lb bikes, and is lighter than the E-Spec so it'll be easier to handle, and with its 6-1/4" shank rise, will give you better ground clearance, which is why I like it better for you.

It comes with a hitch lock but if you'd like you can lock your bikes to the rack with Cable Lock # e98891. Also, it works with tires that are up to 3" wide, but if your bikes have fat tires up to 5" wide you can add the Fat Bike Adapter Kit # S64694.
