Trailer Hitch and Wiring Recommendation for 2019 Toyota Highlander
Question:
We have a 2019 Toyota Highlander XLE with the V6 engine. The spare tire is a 165 90 18 on a steel wheel. There are wiring harnesses on each side of the spare which are not plugged in. The plug on the end is approximately 3/4 inch square. What trailer hitches and wiring harnesses will work without interfering with the tailgate sensor?

For your 2019 Toyota Highlander with a full size spare the trailer hitch I recommend is the Curt part # 13394 allows your full size spare as long as it is not on the aluminum rim. This is the same for the other hitches that fit your Highlander. The Curt hitch also still allow your hands free lift gate to function too. You'd just need to kick to either side of the hitch opening. Then for trailer wiring you'd want the Curt kit part # C56217 which installs easily and also is very reliable.
