Question on Progressive Dynamics 5100 Series Transfer Switch

Question:

It looks like the Go Power 30 amp transfer switch is a Progressive Dynamics 30 amp 5100 transfer switch, but also boasts a plug for a converter, so you aren’t charging your batteries from your inverter when not on shore power. The PD version doesn’t show this, but looking at the wiring diagram, it looks like it would be simple enough to wire up a plug to the shore power contacts and have the same functionality for a lot less money. Is this true? This may not be a fair question since it doesn’t look like you carry the Go Power version, but I would really like to get the PD transfer switch from you, but I want the functionality of only charging the batteries on shore power, not inverter. I appreciate your help.

The Progressive Dynamics 5100 Series Transfer Switch, # PD5110010Q that you linked to will automatically reroute your RV's AC input from shore power to generator power when activated. While many manufacturers will source parts from the same supplier, the case that each unit is mounted in may be similar, but this is not the same item as available from Go Power simply relabeled.

I may not be fully understanding what your objective is but if you are wanting to isolate your battery bank, I suggest you install the 50 Amp Epicord Battery Disconnect Switch with Key, # 277-000096. Or, the 250 Amp Battery Disconnect Switch with Lock, # 3376391005.
