How To Install The Curt Echo Bluetooth Module On A 2018 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Hi, I have a 2018 Highlander that I put the factory tow package on with the 4 pin. I see the recommendation for item # ETBC7L when using the Curt echo blue tooth. But I dont see the wiring diagram for when you are going to use the blue tooth controller option like the full kit that is to a controller in the cabin. Could I get help pointed in that direction? Thank you!

I took a look at the Curt Echo Under-Dash Trailer Brake Controller # C27JR that you're interested in for your 2018 Toyota Highlander, and I was able to sort out the confusion you're having.
If you take a look at # C27JR you'll notice that there is a plug hanging off of the module. This is used to either connect to a vehicle-specific wiring adapter, which would plug directly into the under-dash junction box, or it will connect to a universal wiring adapter # C51515, which will then be spliced into your vehicle's wiring.
For your vehicles case, you're going to need the universal wiring adapter # C51515 as there is not a vehicle specific adapter available.
You mentioned that you have the factory tow package with a 4-pole, which is great because that's one less thing to have to add, however you're also going to need to add a 7-way as well if you don't already have one present.
Using the kit # ETBC7 will make this process fairly easy and straight-forward, and will utilize your existing 4-pole.
If you've already got a 7-way, then you can skip the previous step, and plug in the universal wiring adapter # C51515 to the module, and then splice in the bare wires to your vehicle's harness.
After this you're all set for the wiring, and will just need to refer to the instructions on how you can set up your vehicle through the app.
Additionally, the # ETBC7L is only designed to be used with the wireless Curt Echo that plugs into the 7-way, for every other brake controller you need # ETBC7 because of the brake output wire.
I also have included the wiring diagram for the Curt Echo, as well as this being installed on a2018 Toyota 4Runner for you to check out as well.
