How Much Weight Can I Carry With The Etrailer Cargo Carrier, 24X60, On My 2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
Question:
I have a 2022 Rav4 Hybrid. Im thinking about getting a hitch cargo carrier, such as the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2inch Hitches. The specs and your video with the 2021 Rav4 say that the weight capacity is 500 lbs. But doesnt this exceed the tongue weight limit of the vehicle? I dont have the tow package and my reading of the manual says the maximum tongue weight is 150 lbs. If I had the two package it would be 350lbs, still not 500 lbs. Given that the cargo carrier itself weights about 50 lbs, this would seem to leave me with only about 100 lbs of cargo capacity. Am I wrong about this? What is the actual weight limit as installed on a Rav4? Thank you.

I did some online research and you are correct. The maximum tongue weight of your 2022 Toyota RAV4 is 150 lbs. You are also correct if you use the 24x60 etrailer Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - Tilting - Folding - 500 lbs, part # e98874, you will be limited to about 102 lbs of cargo because you cannot exceed 150 lbs on the tongue of your vehicle and the carrier weighs 48 lbs.
I have included product description link and a video review of this carrier on the rear of a 2021 Toyota RAV4 below.
