Side Mounted Chain Hangers for Weight Distribution Systems

Question:

I only have about 25 or 26 inches from the center of the ball down the A frame of the trailer. How long are the spring bars? Or, what is the minimum distance from the ball to the spring bar bracket where it mounts to the frame of the trailer? The picture shows what dimension I am talking about, I just need a system that only needs about 25”. Or if there are parts I can purchase to make the Curt 17062 work- the problem with the Curt is the brackets that hold the chain can not be placed far enough back because the trailer box gets in the way. Does Curt have a different bracket that just mounts to the side of the frame and does not need to go over the top of the frame? Thanks

Thanks for the picture. The spring bars on the Curt Weight Distribution System item # C17062 are 30-5/8 inches. Since this is way past your 25" requirement, you will want to use the Reese Chain Hangers for Weight Distribution Systems item # RP58305. These hangers bolt to the side of your tongue and do not go over the top. The hanger dimensions are 5" wide x 3-5/16" tall and bolt on with four bolts that are 3-1/2" long. The mounting hook for the chains is in the center of the bracket. I have linked an installation video below along with a diagram of the Curt spring bars.
