Troubleshooting My Tekonsha Brake Controller Not Working
Question:
I have a 2019 Nissan Frontier. Everything worked fine at the end of last season. This season I hooked it up and the camper brakes only work with the manual override button. I have checked all the fuses that seemed like a logical culprit and they all looked fine. I have installed a brand new brake controller. I have checked my connections multiple times and have changed the relay on the passengers side. I think that is all the usual issues, but I am still stumped. I have isolated the problem to my truck with a tester on the 7 pin connector.

If you are having trouble with the brake controller not working, even after switching to the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional, part # 90885, your brake controller could have an issue with not getting enough power, or the wires are not connected properly, or you have an issue with your ground wires, In order to solve this issue, For example, your stoplight wire (red) should only have power when the brakes are depressed. When the brakes are not depressed, you should not have any power. I would start here first. Especially since you have checked your connections. This test can be done in the cab of your tow vehicle, where the stoplight wire is located. You will not be able to adjust or test your brake controller unless you are driving, since you have a proportional brake controller.
