Solution for Hitch Extender for Towing 2020 Jayco Jay Feather 24RL

I have ordered this extension to pull a 5500 pound travel trailer.2020 jayco 24rl .I’m pushing the ratings # is there a safety factor added in on these capacity numbers ? Not sure what the current tongue weight is and if i can transfer weight to achieve the 400 lb

The Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2" Hitches - 7-3/4" Extension # RM-071-1075 is designed for flat towing which is why it has a lower tongue weight capacity. The tongue weight capacity does not have a safety buffer and should not be exceeded.
The other thing you have to consider is the fact that an extender like this reduces the capacity of your hitch by 50%. I'm not sure what you're towing with but that can present its own problems.
Looking at the 2020 Jayco Jay Feather 24RL the dry hitch weight is 625 lbs so you are well over that tongue weight even with it empty. What I recommend instead is using an extended ball mount like the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitch - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10,000 lbs # BH20.
This has a gross towing weight of 10,000 lbs and tongue weight of 1,000 lbs. It measures 13-1/4" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the center of the ball hole. It also will not reduce your hitch capacity. You will also need # A-90 for a 2" ball or # 19286 for a 2-5/16" ball.
