Is the Flat Bed B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch Compatible w/ a Standard Bed Truck?

Hello, can this gooseneck to fifth wheel companion hitch be used in a regular truck box application? Or does this style only work with a flatbed truck application? If it’s not designed to be in a box bed application what companion hitch is designed/rated for 25,000lbs? Thank you

The B&W Companion Flatbed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter item # BWRVK3050 is made to be used on flat bed trucks with a raised bed. Specifically flat bed trucks with channels cut into them. I have attached a diagram of the dimensions of the base. This 5th wheel hitch sits too low to work on a standard truck bed.
For your 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500, with the B&W Turnoverball System item # BWGNRK1016, the only option for you is the B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # BWRVK3500-5W. This hitch has a 20,000 lbs capacity. B&W does not make a Companion 5th wheel hitch that is compatible with the turnover ball system and has a 25,000 lbs capacity. The standard bed 5th wheel hitches have more moving parts which is why the flat bed Companion is higher rated.
The B&W Companion weighs over 150 lbs. If that's not something you're interested in moving by yourself and don't want to have to rely on someone to help you then I recommend purchasing the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches item # BWRVXA3130. This heavy duty steel tool lets you lift your B&W 5th-wheel hitch from your truck bed with a hoist.
Don't forget your lube plate. The Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 10" Diameter item # RP83002 will prevent scratches on your fifth-wheel's skid plate and ease trailer hookup.
To make towing with a 5th wheel easier I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56070 to your 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
