Can Timbren 5200 lb Axle-Less Suspension Be Installed on I-Beam Trailer Frame

Question:

Hi there! Looking to replace my 3,500lb torsion axles with the Timbren setup 5,200lb. Will this work on an i-beam frame? Also, are they available with the brakes already attached in this weight class? I see the 3,500# are available this way. Thank you

The Timbren # TASR5200S03 can absolutely be used on a trailer with an I-beam frame, but you'll need to weld a piece of steel plate onto the outboard side of the I-beam to box off the frame so the Timbren system can attach properly.

Timbren doesn't offer the 5200 lb system complete with hubs and brake assemblies but I'd be happy to recommend hub/drums and brake assemblies for you.

For hub drums, our house brand # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern would be fully compatible with the spindles used by the Timbren # TASR5200S03. For brake assemblies, I'd go with a self-adjusting brake assembly like # AKEBRK-7R-SA for the right side and # AKEBRK-7L-SA for the left.

The hub/drums are pre-greased and have the bearings, races and grease seals preinstalled. The brake assemblies include the mud and crud plugs to cover the adjuster holes, but the install hardware is sold separately as part # BRKH12S.
