Parts Recommendation to Install and Use Brakes on 3.5K Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Suspension
Question:
Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - Straight Spindle - Off-Road Tires - 3,500 lbs Item # ASR35HDS01 I am wanting electric brakes and hubs to go with the above axles. Can you suggest the right part numbers. Give thoughts on brakes- I will be towing a custom made UTV Trailer 2600lb GVW with UTV with an RV. When driving mountain passes my thoughts are to have trailer brakes so the RV brakes are helped instead of added load. We will tow routinely for numerous miles retirement plans anyway

Thank you for all of the great info! For the correct brakes, hubs, and other parts to get the electric brakes working with the Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR35HDS01 I recommend the following:
Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit - # 23-458-459
Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - # 8-201-5UC3-EZ
etrailer Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit - # HS381-9000
10 Gauge Wire - # 10-1-1
Heat Shrink Butt Connectors - # DW05745-10
The Nev-R-Adjust brakes will automatically adjust to the correct setting after the initial setup, the hub has the correct parts and the EZ Lube grease cap that matches the spindles, then the upgrade wiring kit comes with the 7-Way connection and a junction box to make it easier to tie-in the 10 gauge wire from your brakes. The heat shrink butt connectors give you the best protection for your wiring connections as well.
If you don't already have a brake controller I highly recommend going with the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR it can be used for proportional braking on everyday drives to the time-delayed braking that is needed when traveling mountains like you're planning on doing. Proportional operations give you smooth braking but it's based off acceleration. Since you'll be on the brakes the whole way down the mountain and moving slower, a proportional-only controller will think you are just driving slow and won't provide as much braking power, so your trailer will end up pushing your tow vehicle from behind the whole way down.
