5th Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2002 GMC Sierra 1500 5-1/2 ft Bed
Question:
Thanks for the info Clark. I did have another question. Is there a Reese 20K slider with the single locking jaw also available for my truck? If so would it be compatible with the rail system that doesn't require truck frame drilling? I understand this type jaw is a little tighter and quieter or is there much of a difference comparing it to the Reese 16K model you suggested. Is there a Reese 16K slider hitch with this style jaw or another brand/suitable substitute?

Since your 2002 GMC Sierra 1500HD has a 6-1/2 foot bed you'd need a slider hitch so for a 16k Reese fifth wheel hitch that has a slider you'd want the Curt 16k slider hitch part # C16521 which has a round tube slider which will slide easier with less binding.
You'll also need a rail kit designed to fit your truck and fits the Reese hitch. For that you'd want the Reese custom rail kit part # RP50064-58 which doesn't require frame drilling.
