Which Bolts Are 1/2" and What Bolts Are 14mm On The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14080?
Question:
On the Curt 14080 receiver hitch which I just installed on my 2000 new body style Tahoe, it is unclear as to which of the fasteners should be torqued to 110 pounds and which to 126 foot pounds. The instructions say all 14mm to 126, but we are using a 19mm deep socket for the nuts on the carriage bolts and 22mm socket on the hex tap bolts which go into the bumper and the weld nuts on the frame, so WHAT do they mean by 14mm fasteners?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The instructions are referring to the bolt diameter and not the head size for the torque specs of the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14080.
The Carriage bolts and nuts are going to be 1/2" diameter while the bolts that thread into the weld nuts on the frame and bumper are going to be your 14mm fasteners. I have linked the installation instructions below.
