Blue Ox Flat Tow Setup For A 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Question:

I wrote on Thursday requesting information on flat towing a 2015 Grand Cherokee Limited with adaptive cruise control. I did get a quick response with a full Road Master setup list and am grateful however I think I would prefer to go with the Blue Ox brand. I seem to be having an issue finding a base plate that is compatible with my year and model of Jeep. I was looking to use the Ascent tow bar BX4370 and patriot 3 brake system. Is this not possible or is there another reason why I should not?

You can absolutely do that!

What you'll want, in that case, is to use the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1128 instead of the Roadmaster # RM-521440-5 base plate kit.

Now you will be able to use the Blue Ox Ascent Non-Binding Tow Bar # BX4370 you mentioned as the base plates will fit all Blue Ox tow bars.

If you ever wanted to use a Roadmaster tow bar, you'd just need the adapter # RM-031 or # RM-031-5.

The Blue Ox Patriot 3 Radio Frequency, Portable Braking System # BRK2019 you mentioned, will also work great for your setup, however since this has been discontinued, I recommend checking out the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524 instead. This is a portable system that will provides precise, responsive braking for your towed vehicle, and features a built-in supercapacitor that will activate your brakes if a breakaway occurs, even if your car's battery is dead.

For wiring, you're going to need # RM-152-98146-7 instead of # RM-154 that I mentioned on the original answer page, because the Roadmaster tow bar I mentioned Included a 7-way to 6-way cable that is needed, so the wiring kit I linked didn't include that. Since the Blue Ox Ascent does not include that cable, the new kit # RM-152-98146-7 has that included.
