Options For Replacing A Tie Down Turbo Lube 48394 Clear Oil Bath Cap

Question:

Hi, Tie Die Engineering apparently discontinued oil bath hubs and moved to greaseable. I have a single axle 1,350# Floe snowmobile trailer from mid 2000s with Tie Die Engineering now Dexter, I believe that uses 85-90 oil not grease. I want to stay with oil bath as I got 15 years without issue on this hub. Do you have a replacement oil bath cap that replaces tie Down number 48394 ? Cap has to be satisfactory for oil bath not greasable. My fill plug is clear, Lexan material and fills oil on top of cap not middle and not rubber cover, but allen wrench screw with O-ring.

Though we do have the Bearing Buddy # BB2441T-SS that is a direct replacement for Tie Down's Turbo Lube oil baths, this will require you changing over to grease instead of oil.

With that said, we do also have the Kodiak XL ProLube Kit # XLPROLUBE2440KIT (or # XLPROLUBE2440 as a single cap) that will measure the same, but the end that sits in the hub is not threaded. To get this to fit, you would either need to have the ends of the caps threaded, or have the threads turned down on your hub, which will end up changing the hub bore diameter making this not fit anymore. This will also be the standard fill in center with a rubber plug as we do not have any that will be fill on top.

Unfortunately, the best option we will have is swapping over to grease and using the Bearing Buddy set up. Oil bath in this size hub was pretty much something only Tie Down
