Will Thule OutWay 2 Trunk Carrier Fit Both 2010 Honda CRV and Also 2010 Chevrolet Traverse
Question:
I have both a 2010 Honda CRV as well as a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse. Can you tell me if this unit will fit both. Thank you.

The Thule OutWay Trunk-Mount Bike Carrier, part # TH45JV, will fit on your 2010 Traverse but will not fit on your 2010 Honda CR-V. None of the Thule trunk-mount carriers will fit properly on your 2010 CR-V. Yakima offers many trunk carriers that will work on your CR-V but none of these will work on your Traverse!
Hollywood Racks does offer their Over-the-Top 2-bike carrier, part # HRF2, that will work on both vehicles (as long as the CR-V does not have a trunk-mount spare tire). This folding carrier can hold 2 bikes of up to 35-lbs each and mounts to your cars with 4 adjustable cam-buckle straps and 6 cushioned foam pads to protect your vehicle. This carrier does not include locks, but we offer a security strap to secure the carrier to your vehicle, part # TH533 from Thule, and a 10-ft cable lock to secure the bikes to the carrier, part # e98891.
Another option to enable one 2-bike carrier to work on both vehicles is to go to a hitch-mount type. Of course this requires that a trailer hitch be installed on both vehicles. Although this adds some expense to the proposition it also means that both vehicles would also be able to use other hitch-mount accessories such as a cargo carrier. If your CR-V has a trunk-mount spare tire, then you will need to go this route.
Both your CR-V and your Traverse can be fitted with Class III 2-inch hitch receivers. The most popular hitches for your vehicles are the Curt # 13555 for the CR-V and Draw-Tite # 75528. With these 2-inch hitches you can use a 2-inch hitch-mount bike carrier; please refer to the link provided which will show you all 2-bike hitch-mount racks, both hanging- and platform-style.
