Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2012 Toyota Highlander
Question:
Just purchased the Highlander and it came with towing prep. package which I understood included a wiring harness some where at the rear. The Toyota dealer could not tell me how to locate it, so I dont know if it is pre-wired. how do I find the pre-wired plug and is there any other wiring or plugs needed to hook up the trailer. You no doubt know more about my concerns then Toyota.

I am fairly certain that all of the 2012 Toyota Highlanders come with a factory connection point to add trailer wiring like # 118449. The connection point for the 4-Way part is located inside the rear cargo area. There is also a fuse you will need to insert in the power distribution box under the hood to make it fully functional. The connection point for the converter box is located under the dash between the emergency brake pedal and the regular brake pedal. I have included a link to a video that shows a typical installation and a link to the installation instructions for you.
