Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch Compatibility With Leer Hard Folding Tonneau Cover On F-350

Question:

I have a 2022 Ford F-350 SRW short bed with OEM puck system. I’m considering purchasing the Demco 18k Autoslide hitch however, I want to also be able to use a bed cover. With this hitch installed can I use a LEER HF650M Hard Quad Folding Truck Bed Cover? Specifically, would I have to remove the cover when towing the 5th wheel and when disconnected would I have to remove the head of the hitch to close the cover? I appreciate your input! Thanks,

To know if the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Ford Super Duty Prep Package - 18K # DM8550024 is going to interfere with your tonneau cover you'll just need to measure the bedrail height. Typically the bedrail height of Ford F-Series trucks usually sticks around 21". You'll want to measure yours to ensure you have the same measurement (note: bed-liners will alter this measurement). Since you have the OEM prep package in the bed of your F-350 you won't have to worry about base rails adding extra height as the # DM8550024 is going to drop into the pucks and lock in place. The # DM8550024 has an adjustable hitch head height of 15-1/2", 16-3/4", or 18-1/4" so even at the highest setting you would still have 2-3/4" of room before reaching the top of the bedrails.

Looking at your LEER HF650M Hard Quad Folding Truck Bed Cover, it appears to be a a flush mount with the bedrails that will also lock into place allowing for 3/4 bed access. If needed you could lower the hitch head height to fit the cover over the bed without having to remove the head of the hitch. The cover being divided into four pieces will allow enough room for it to still be attached while towing your camper as well.
