Do RV Carbon Monoxide Detectors Use Internal Batteries

Question:

How do I cange the battery. It’s chirping.

Expert Reply:

Some propane/carbon monoxide detectors use household batteries to operate, but most connect directly to the trailer 12 volt battery system. If your detector finds low voltage from internal batteries, or the trailer battery, it will chirp to alert you. Internal battery locations will vary.

If you need a replacement detector I recommend the RVSafe # RS34FR. It runs entirely off of your trailer battery so you will not need to worry about changing batteries.
