Class III Vs Class II Trailer Hitch For A 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid
Question:
why should I get a class III hitch compared to a class II hitch for my 2021 Rav4 hybrid??

Expert Reply:
The main reason you should use a class III hitch vs a class II hitch is that a class III hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13416 has a 2" x 2" receiver opening which is the most common opening used and manufactured, to carry hitch mounted accessories like the Swagman Trailhead 4-Bike Rack # S63381.
Also, class II hitches are not made to be used with a weight distribution system, so if you wanted to use a WDS you'd have to install a class III hitch.
That being said, there isn't anything wrong with using a class II hitch, if you wanted to a use a class II hitch the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C66KR is a great choice and still offers a maximum towing capacity of 3,500lbs.
