Recommended Trailer Brake Controller to Replace Hard Wired Controller On a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500
Question:
Looking at your brake controller for my pickup. Current one needs replacement. I need a female plug and kit for wiring in brake controller on my 97 Dodge Ram 2500. Looking at the Curt Assure controller, but dont tow all of the time and that is a tad pricey. Could consider a less expensive unit as well. Thanks

The Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller # C49UR will require the Universal Wiring Harness # C51515 to be hardwired in place of your current brake controller on your 1997 Dodge Ram 2500.
I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 as it will come with the wiring harness needed to complete the installation. This controller is proportional like the Curt Assure and features an easy to read screen. Since you will only use it on occasion you can easily remove the P3 from its quick release mount so that it is not taking up space on your dash.
