How to Transport 2 Kayaks While Towing 5th Wheel Trailer with 2007 Chevy Silverado Classic 2500HD

Question:

I have a 2007 Silverado 2500hd classic crew cab long bed. Will a roof top carrier work with a fifth wheel trailer and what is the best carrier?

You definitely can carry your kayaks on top of your 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD Classic while towing your 5th wheel camper - this is actually a pretty common thing!

For a roof rack I recommend the Rhino-Rack Vortex System, parts # RRVA137B-2, # RRRLKVA, and # DK227, which gives you a mounting point for the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878 which is the kayak carrier I recommend. You will need to get 1 for each boat using this carrier. We do have some carriers that allow you to load up multiple boats to the same carrier but the problem you're going to run into is loading them up since your truck is wider.

One thing you'll want to check is to make sure you have enough turning clearance for your 5th wheel with the kayaks loaded up. The rear crossbar will sit 21-21/32" behind the center of the door post. This should give you a good idea of where the kayaks will sit. If you're needing more clearance then you'll want to install the Front Hitch # 31108 and use a load extender like the Erickson # EM07600-07601. This setup means your kayaks will hang over the front of your truck, but it also means that you'll have enough turning clearance for your 5th wheel.

I've attached a few videos for you to check out.
