Can You Use Black 13" Wheels On a Boat Trailer In Saltwater

Question:

I am looking to replace my boat trailer tires and wheels and I like the look of the steel powder coated black mod wheels but I am worried how they might stand up to saltwater. Should I stick with galvanized or is it ok to go with the black wheels? I do hose them down with fresh water after every trip.

For most boat trailers, it's okay to use powder coated steel wheels but this is mostly for freshwater. I am not saying you can't use powder coated steel wheels on a boat trailer in saltwater but it's really not the best option for longevity. It will help to rinse them down after but the issue is with water corroding the beat seats, creating leaks and it's hard to get all the water out of the cracks between the tire and wheel.

The Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Black Mod Wheel part # AM31990 will work but the Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire with 13" Galvanized Wheel part # AM31994 is our best option.
