Roof Rack Recommendation For 2021 Subaru Ascent For Carrying Canoe
Question:
Hi. I need a roof rack to carry a canoe on my 2021 Subaru Ascent. Your photos show an Outback NOT AN Ascent that has a different roof rack configuration Ascent does not have crossbars, just 2 racks running front to back on each side of the car. Can you please recommend a specific rack and provide me info or a link to specifications? Thank you!

We can absolutely get your 2021 Subaru Ascent with raised side rails set up with a roof rack so you can carry a canoe. The rack I recommend for your '21 Ascent is from Rhino-Rack, and is made up of the following parts:
- Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA137B-2
- Rhino-Rack SX Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars - Raised Factory Side Rails # RRSX100
There are a couple of reasons why I like this rack set up the best. The first is because Rhino-Rack gives you the best overall value for a roof rack; the quality is the same as similar brands, but at a better price point. The other reason I like this rack is because at 54 inches, these are the longest crossbars available for your Ascent, which means you have the most possible space to mount your canoe, and it can also help make loading it easier. Then for a canoe carrier, the best option is the Thule Portage Canoe Carrier # TH819.
The Portage # TH819 is great because it is simple to install on your crossbars, as all you'll need to do is tighten the hand knobs and you're set. The carrier's brackets are also padded to protect your canoe from any type of damage, and it even comes with tie-downs so you don't have to purchase those separately.
