We can help you get the wiring setup for your 2022 Chevy Equinox. The first thing you will need to do is install a 4-way connector for your vehicle. You will need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C94FR. The nice thing about this wiring harness is that you will not have to splice any wires into your vehicle in order to make this work, it is a plug and play setup. You will plug this harness into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness. This can be found behind the rear bumper on the passenger side of your vehicle. I also recommend getting a mounting bracket to secure your 4-way connector. The Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat, part # 18144, is a simple bracket mount that you can attach to the underside of your rear bumper.
Once your 4-way connector is installed you can move to the next step, you need to install the 7-way connector. The nice thing about my 7-way connector recommendation is that you will still have the use of your 4-way connection. The Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, part # ETBC7, is the next part you need to get setup to tow a pop-up trailer. The addition of the 7-way plug will add reverse lights, power for a brake controller, and a battery lead, to your 4-way connector.
The last items I will recommend for this installation are dielectric grease to ward off moisture and corrosion and a circuit tester to make sure all of your connections are working properly. You cannot go wrong with the Dielectric Grease for Electrical Connectors, 2 oz, part # 11755, and the LCD Digital Circuit Tester, part # PTW2992.
I have included product description links, a helpful weblink about wiring, and a number of video installations and reviews that I think will be of use to you below.
