Do Safety Cables and Cable Connectors Have to Have Same Capacity for Flat Tow Setup

I would like to buy # 80176. What cable connectors, carabiner/quick connects would work for the trailer side connection? The side opposite the included S connector. Do they need to be rated for 7500lbs like the cables? Thanks!

You'd need the safety cables, caribiner/quick connects and anything else to be rated for at least the weight of the towed vehicle. So while the cables part # C80176 are rated for 7,500 you could use the # RM-910022 which is rated for 6k assuming your vehicle weighs less than that. I am fairly certain you have a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe which would at most weigh 4k.

The part #RM-910022 is rated for 6,000 lbs so would not be a good choice for your setup that tows a 7,500 lb trailer but the part #C82932 has a 3,300lb safe working load capacity and 16,500lb break strength capacity, which would be way to go.

The heaviest I have available is the Threaded Quick Link part #C82932. I put these on my dad's 2019 for this same reason. They have a break strength of 16,500lbs each and a safe working load limit of 3300 lb each for a 6600 lb total.

The Roadmaster Safety Cable Extensions #RM-910648-12 do include Quick Link connectors. The connectors alone are part #RM-910022 and these are rated for 6000-lbs. Other Quick Links like Curt #C82931 are rated lower, in this case 2640-lbs.

When the Quick Link part #C82932 is fully open the opening measures 5/8 of inch so a 5/16 inch diameter chain link would easily pass through it. It's pretty common to see quick links that are noticeably larger than the chains they are used on.
