Can I Splice Into the wiring for my Enclosed Trailers Dome Light to Run a 12v Cooler
Question:
I have an enclosed trailer with an interior dome light that only functions when hooked to tow vehicle. Could I tie into that to install cigarette lighter outlet to run a 12V cooler.

In short, yes. It really comes down to how many amps the 12v cooler is drawing. The light typically draws a minuscule amount. Most vehicles range between 30-40 amps coming from that 12v pin. You would want to check how many amps you are getting and how much the cooler draws. If you have enough amps (I suspect you will) then you can use 10 Gauge Primary Wire # 10-1-1, 12-10 Gauge Butt Connector # 05732-2 and Replacement Female Spade Terminal # RM-300115-00 to splice in and run to a 12V Power Outlet like the # 37215105. You can clean up the installation appearance by using the Mounting Plate for 12V Socket # 37215155.
If you do not have enough amps coming from the 7-way you can always add a battery into the mix to supply enough power.
