If the Curt Spectrum # C51170 isn't lighting up when a trailer is connected to your 2019 GMC Canyon, there will be a few things you need to check.
First, and this will sound obvious but it actually happens more than you would think, you will need to make sure all the plugs are fully seated and snapped together. A loose or incomplete connection can definitely cause it to not function.
With that out of the way, you will need to test the black wire going into the controller. This should have power when the vehicle is turned on. If there is power, there is something internal that has gone wrong with the controller and it will need to be replaced. These do have a lifetime warranty and you will need to contact the place it was purchased for warranty info.
On the other hand, if there is no power, you will need to check a fuse under the hood. I included a picture of the one that will need to be checked, but it will be the one in port F27 according to the owner's manual for your 2019 Canyon. This is the most likely culprit and should get you back up and running.
