There are several models of hitch available for your 2008 Acura MDX (see link). I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III Round Tube Receiver, item # 75614, which has a towing capacity of 4,000 pounds which is the highest rated hitch for your vehicle without a weight distribution system. There is not a Class IV hitch offered for the MDX.
The highest hitch rating of 5,000 pounds, for your MDX, is acquired by using a weight distribution system which distributes the weight from the tongue of the trailer to the vehicle and trailer axles. There are a several systems you can choose from (see link) if the trailer you want to pull is under 5,000 pounds gross weight and 500 pounds tongue weight.
You can also add the dual cam sway control, item # RP26002, to the high performance trunnion system, item # RP66020. Sway control will help if you are pulling close to the vehicles maximum weight and encounter high winds and large vehicles passing.
