Could Middle Hole In Frame Of 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Be Used As Access Hole To Install Trailer Hitch?
Question:
why drill out the forward frame hole to make it an access hole? why not drill the center hole and make it the access hole? the forward hole and the rear hole are on 7inch centers. the hitch holes are also on 7inch centers. it makes no sense to ream out the forward hole then use it as a bolting hole. am i missing something?

Since the carriage bolts used to secure the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13382 use space blocks to keep them from just spinning the frame of your 2021 Subaru Crosstrek it does not change anything if you open up the most forward hole like shown in the installation video. Since the hole does not need to be opened up much you are not losing structural integrity.
You can probably open up the center hole as you mentioned, but this is not how Curt or our install team has done it so I would just stick with the method shown in our install video as I can say with 100% certainty it works.
