Can Friction Sway Control be Used with Reese Weight Distribution RE44FR
Question:
I recently bought a 2022 Catalina Summit 184 BHS TT that came with a new Reese RE44FR WDH I was wondering if you had a sway bar I could add to this system? I also am wondering if the RE44FR is to heavy for this TT because the TT tongue dry weight is 492 lbs and TT dry weight is 3840 lbs GVW is 5500 lbs the tow vehicle is a 2020 Ram 1500 4x4 The trailer pulled fine on a 3 hour drive home from the dealer I just want to know if I am ok with this set up and just add a sway bar? thank you,

You can add a friction sway control to the Reese weight distribution system part # RE44FR with the Reese unit part # 83660 as there is a tab for the ball of this kit on either side of the head.
The # RE44FR does have a tongue weight range of 600 to 1,150 lbs which by the time your trailer is loaded should be fine as yours would most likely be above 600. Now since you said it rode fine I would say that's the true test that you are okay. Normally if you use a WD system that is rated too high the ride quality is rough so since yours is fine you are good.
