Differences in Hitches Available for 2021 Subaru Forester
Question:
There are several 2 inch hitch choices for a 2021 Subaru Forester. Which one do I need? I have a 2 inch cargo tray and I'll tow a small kayak trailer every now and then.

There are three types of hitches available for your 2021 Subaru Forester. I'll run through them below:
• Traditional Fully Exposed Hitch like Curt # C13409. The fully exposed hitches are typically the easiest to
install and the least expensive option.
• Partially Concealed Hitch like Curt # C47HR. These would be more expensive as well as being more
difficult to install, as shown in the linked video. However, the only visible portion of the hitch would be the
receiver tube and the safety chain loops, so this is the perfect choice for folks that don't like the
appearance of a traditional hitch.
• Fully Concealed Hitch like the Stealth # SH77GR which features a removable receiver tube and draw bar
that makes the hitch completely concealed once the receiver of drawbar is removed. This is the most
expensive option with the most time consuming installation. However, if you want the appearance of the
rear of the vehicle to be completely unchanged unless you're towing, this would be the option for you.
I'd personally choose a partially concealed hitch like the Curt # C47HR, as it's not completely exposed still fairly reasonably priced.
You'll also need a wiring harness like # 118467, a ball mount like # 2753 and a trailer ball like # 19260 for a 1-7/8 or # 63845 for a 2 inch ball.
