Easiest Trailer Wiring Solution for 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee with OEM Wiring Present
Question:
My 2018 Jeep GC has the factory tow package wiring circuit behind the bumper. I understand I can go to my dealer to have them re-flash the Jeeps computer in order to activate the wiring circuit or tie into my rear lights. Is there any advantage to having the Jeep dealer re-flash the computer? I will be towing a boat trailer that has surge brakes that deactivate when reverse lights are on. Thanks

If it was my vehicle I would go with the factory tow package 7-way and 4-way wiring kit part # C55774 that you referenced since you have the connector present for it already. There's a good chance the wiring is already active too but at worst a trip to a dealer to have them reflash the computer would be super easy as well. The T-one style kits aren't terrible but if you have the wiring already present the route mentioned would be super easy and gives you both styles of trailer wiring.
