Hubs To Replace Damaged Hubs With Obsolete LM48548 and L44649 Bearing Combination

Question:

I have an old 1969 pathfinder travel trailer and am having a very different time finding replacement hubs. The inner bearing is a LM48548 and the outer bearing is a L44610. The hubs them selves are 6 x 5.5 stud pattern. Would you have a complete hub replacement available? The old hubs are pretty crusty with quite a few busted studs so I would rather just replace.thr whole hub instead of replacing the bearings, rear seal, and studs individually.

I have a few options for you, but there is not a replacement hub made any more that has the # LM48548 inner bearing and # L44649 outer bearing that your spindle uses. The # L44610 you mentioned is actually a race and not an actual bearing.

Option one is replacing the bearings with # LM48548, # L44649, and races with # LM48510 and # L44610. For the grease seal you will need to use digital calipers like # PTW80157 to precisely measure your spindle and hub in the locations shown in the included diagram to confirm the correct replacement seal.

Since you mentioned your hub has broken stubs those can be replaced but you will need to measure one of your current studs that is in good condition and send that information over to me.

The only other option would be a complete axle replacement. For this you will need to find the hub face to hub face and spring center to spring center measurement of your axle along with the axle rating.

For example if your axle is a 3500lb axle we have the Dexter Axle Beam # 7359765 which has a hub face measurement of 95", and a spring center measurement of 80" as shown in the included diagram. If this matches the specs of your current axle this would be a great replacement option as it uses the common # L68149 and # L44649 bearing combination which makes finding hubs very easy.

This axle would use the idler hub # AKIHUB-655-35-EZ-K which has the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern you were needing.

If you find your axle does not match the specs of the axle mentioned above just let me know.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
