Electric Trailer Brakes Affecting Lights on Trailer
Question:
I have a 7 pin outlet on 2019 Sierra. All pins work correctly on other trailers I hooked up trailer light wiring correctly to the 7 pin. If the electric brake wire is hooked to the correct pin all lights work OPPOSITE to what they should. If I take the electric brake wire off all lights work correctly. I have traced all wires and can find no shorts, bare wires etc. If I hook up the electric brake wires to neg and pos to a battery they work properly. Could the problem be in the the electric brake assembly. I am stumped. Thank You

That is truly bizarre and not something myself or others I consulted with here have ever heard of happening. So please keep that in mind but there are some issues that may be causing this to look out for. If other trailers work fine with your truck the issue has to be with the wiring on this specific trailer.
First, the most basic thing to do is check your trailer connector for corrosion if you haven't; it could be causing issues with the signals getting mixed or circuits crossing, and if there is corrosion replace the 7-way with the Plug # PK12706 or # H20046.
That seems the most logical issue with the other most likely problem being the brake wire circuit contacting the ground, hampering the circuits of the lights. Also be sure to check the grounds of your lights, as a bad ground can cause all sorts of funky issues.
