Auto Headlamps on 2017 Ford Escape Won't Work After Curt C56320 Trailer Wiring Harness is Installed
Question:
Hello - my mechanic installed this light kit on our Ford Escape. I noticed that I cannot leave the lights on the auto setting anymore as the car will continue to chime like there is an error. Is this normal? Did they install this wrong?

I spoke with my contact at Curt regarding the issue you're having, and according to the folks at Curt what you have going on is almost certainly coincidental as the proper installation of the # C56320 wouldn't have any impact on the auto headlamp feature of your Escape. The functions are nowhere near related.
I'd recommend looking over the linked installation video and instructions to confirm the installation was done correctly. One possible cause would be if the 12V circuit that is supposed to be ran to the positive battery terminal was ran somewhere else, such as to a 12V power socket in the vehicle. Curt couldn't confirm this, because they haven't purposely installed the product in any other way than what's stated in the instructions, but it would make sense, as the installation is very straightforward and this is the only potential problem we could come up with.
