Right Turn Signal Activates Both Turn Signals on Trailer with 2017 Ford Escape

Question:

Right turnsignal activates both turn signals.All outputs from converter box check ok. All grounds on trailer check ok. My vehicle is a 2017 Ford Escape. I purchased wiring kit from you that was made for my vehicle. What else should I check. All bulbs are good

I first recommend disconnecting the trailer and using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to test the functions on the 4-way connector from the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56320 you installed on y our 2017 Ford Escape. Test to make sure all of the proper functions are being activated. I have included a helpful video that will walk you through how to test a converter.

Then check to make sure that there is no corrosion or debris inside both the vehicle and trailer side connectors. This may be unlikely considering how new the vehicle and harness are, but there still may be dirt or something preventing a solid connection between the vehicle and trailer. Clean anything out as needed.

Lastly, you should check again to make sure all the ground connections on the trailer are made to clean bare metal surfaces. When both signal lights are activated when just using the left or right turn signal, this is usually an indication of a bad or weak ground. Weak grounds have a tendency of leading to a variety of strange issues like this one.
