The Lippert Power Stance Electric Trailer Jack w/ 7-Way Plug - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 3,500lbs # LC89VR can be powered by using the included 2-way to 7-way plug or by using wiring it to a battery on your trailer. Yes, you can upgrade the wire gauge to 10AWG # 10-1-1 to counteract voltage drop off. You'll also need to some ring terminals to connect the wire to the trailer battery. You can use the Hopkins Deluxe Trailer Wiring Installation Kit # HM51020 which will come with everything you need. If you have an available 7-way port to plug into this would be the easiest option, but if your trailer plugs into the 7-way you will need to go with wiring it to a battery.
To charge a trailer battery with your tow vehicle you can use the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger DC to DC - 12V/24V - 12 Amp # RED96FR. It installs in your vehicle or trailer and pulls power from your vehicle battery to charge your auxiliary battery. This specific model is ideal for smaller battery banks rated less than 75 amp-hours but we also carry larger capacity models for larger batteries. You'll also need the 30-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit for Redarc In-Vehicle 12-Amp BCDC Battery Charger # RED86FR to protect your setup from potentially damaging overcurrent caused by short circuits or overloads.
Listed in the instructions for the # RED96FR is a wiring gauge guide that states to use 10AWG # 10-1-1 for a 3' - 16' distance and 8AWG for a distance of 16' - 30'.
