Recommended Replacement For A 1116 Pin Box In A 2022 Ford F-350 SRW Short Bed
Question:
I have the lippert 1116 pin box on my 2021 montana high country. Is there a rota flex model pin box that can extend longer to accomodate my 2022 short bed f350 srw. Or would that not work on this fifth wheel? Would it cause bed rail contact? I also have a retrax tonneau cover. Thank you!

There isn't enough of a length difference between 1116 pin boxes to fully accommodate your 2022 Ford F-350 SRW short bed. Instead you can replace the pin box with the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin with Rotating Turret # RP77FR which would push the pivoting point back 22" to increase your turning clearance. This type of pin box will require a wedge kit which is specific to the 5th wheel hitch you'll be attaching to. The wedge kit will lock the king pin in place allowing the trailer to only rotate at the back of the pin box. This will keep the pin box from moving side to side in your bed so you won't have to worry bed rail contact.
I've attached our selection of wedge kits but if you need help determining the correct one just let me know which hitch you have.
Note: Not all fifth wheel hitches are compatible with rotating pin boxes. You'll want to check the compatibility prior purchasing your components. For example, Curt Q-Series hitches are not compatible with rotating hitches.
